The Q-Closet is a safe space where Trans, Queer and Gender Non-Conforming students can find free clothing and accessories to ease the anxiety and dysphoria they may experience when exploring and/or developing their authentic selves.
Trans, Queer and Gender Non-confirming students may find college as a time to explore their gender identity through altering their gender expression through clothing. Yet often students struggle financially with purchasing new clothing and may not have family support when it comes to expressing their gender in a different way. Our Q-Closet supports students, as a place where they can find free clothing and accessories to ease anxiety and dysphoria they may experience.
Where we have clothing (professional clothing and outwear included), we currently do not have the resources to offer binders, waist cinchers and tucking underwear. The GSRC is currently taking donations (click GIVE) to support the mission of the GSRC in developing LGBTQ+ students which include purchasing binders, waist cinchers, and tucking underwear for the Q-Closet. In the meantime, we encourage you to contact the UP Center for those items.
The Q-Closet opened in Fall 2024 and resides in the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC). The Q-Closet is open the same hours as the GSRC, 8:30 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday.
We invite you to stop by and check out the Q-Closet!
